Insurance, explained like a person would.

Most insurance writing exists to rank, not to answer. These are the questions clients actually ask us — what full coverage really includes, why flood is not in your homeowners policy, what to do when a total-loss offer looks low — answered the way we would answer them on the phone. Sorted by what you own, not by what we published last.

How this library is organized

Five shelves, by what you own — vehicles, home, rental property, business, and the basics of reading a policy. Nobody wants the newest article about flood insurance; they want the one that answers the question. Every guide carries a review date, which matters more here than on most subjects because insurance is state law plus carrier filings and both move. Cannot find it? Ask Cribby, or call and skip the reading.

One thing worth knowing

Check the date on any insurance article. Including ours.

Insurance is state law plus carrier filings, and both change without anybody announcing it to readers. Arkansas changed its rules on roof discounts effective July 1, 2026 — which means a well-written article published that June was describing something that had stopped being true by the time most people found it. Nothing about the article looks wrong. It just is.

So two habits are worth having. Look for a review date before you trust an insurance article, here or anywhere, and treat anything undated as unknown. And where the answer actually matters to a decision you are making, check it with somebody who can see your policy. We date everything we publish and revisit the Arkansas-specific pieces when the rules move — but a page is still a page, and a two-minute call beats it.

Frequently asked questions

About these guides.

How do I find an article about my specific situation?

Start with the topic shelves rather than the newest posts.

The library is organized by what you own rather than by when we wrote it, because almost nothing here goes out of date on a schedule. Pick the shelf that matches — vehicles, home, rental property, business, or the basics of reading a policy — and work down. If nothing fits, Ask Cribby will answer in plain English and point at the right page, and if it cannot, calling the office at (479) 286-1066 costs you nothing and is usually faster than reading anyway.

Is anything here advice about my policy?

No. It is general information about how coverage generally works.

Everything published here describes how a kind of coverage usually behaves, what Arkansas law generally requires, and what questions are worth asking. None of it is a determination about your policy, because we cannot see your policy from here. Coverage is set by the carrier, varies by form and by state, and the document actually issued to you controls what is covered in every case. If you want an answer about your own situation, send us your declarations page and you will get a real one.

How current is this?

Every article carries a review date, and on insurance topics that date matters more than usual.

Insurance is state law plus carrier filings, and both move. Arkansas changed its rules on roof discounts effective July 1, 2026, which means an article written in June of that year was describing something that no longer applies. That is not unusual and it is why we date things. If an article you are reading has an old review date and the answer matters to you, check with us rather than assuming it still holds.

Do you write about companies?

Not in the guides. Carriers get their own pages.

Articles here explain how coverage works, not which company to buy it from, and you will not find a carrier named in the middle of a warning. If you want to know what a particular insurance company is good at, the carrier pages cover that separately and say so plainly. Keeping the two apart is deliberate: an explanation that quietly steers you toward one company is a sales pitch wearing a guide's clothes.

Can I suggest a topic?

Yes, and most of what is here started as somebody's question.

Email service@cribbinsurance.com with what you were trying to find out and could not. The useful ones are the specific ones — a question a neighbor asked, a bit of a renewal notice that made no sense, something a contract required that you had never heard of. We would rather write the article somebody actually needs than the one that ranks.

Can I share or quote these?

Link to them freely. Please do not republish them wholesale.

Send a link to anyone who would find it useful, quote a line with attribution, or print one out for your own reference. What we ask is that articles are not copied onto another site or reproduced in full, partly because they are ours and partly because a copy stops getting corrected the day it is made — and a stale insurance article is worse than none. If you want to use something in a newsletter or a class, ask us and the answer is usually yes.

Reading only gets you so far.

An article can tell you how a coverage usually works. It cannot tell you what is on your policy. Send us your declarations page and we will read it properly, put it across our markets, and tell you plainly what we find — including that it is already right, when it is. Start a personal quote or a commercial quote, or just call.

Cribb Insurance Group Inc. 1601 SW Regional Airport Blvd, Bentonville, AR 72713 (479) 286-1066 service@cribbinsurance.com

Cribb Insurance Group Inc. is an independent insurance agency licensed in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. The guides collected here are general information about how insurance coverage commonly works. They are not a policy, not an offer of insurance, and not a guarantee of coverage, availability, eligibility, or price. They are not legal advice, claims advice, tax advice, or a legal opinion, and nothing here is a determination about any particular policy, person, property or business.

Coverage is set by the insurance company. Coverages, limits, deductibles, covered causes of loss, exclusions and settlement terms vary by policy form, by carrier, by state and over time, and are subject to underwriting approval and eligibility. The policy actually issued to you controls what is covered in every case. Where a guide and your policy disagree, your policy is right.

Currency. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed. Insurance law and carrier filings change, sometimes on short notice, and an article that was accurate when written may not describe the current position. Review dates are provided so you can judge that for yourself; they are not a warranty that content remains current.

Ask Cribby is an AI assistant provided as a convenience. Its answers are general information subject to everything above, it cannot see your policy, and it does not quote, bind, change or interpret coverage. Anything that matters should be confirmed with a licensed member of the team.

Articles may reference statutes, regulations and industry practice as understood at the time of writing. Where sources conflict, the disagreement is disclosed rather than resolved by assumption. Reproduction of these guides in whole or in substantial part is not permitted; linking to them is welcome.
