How Lumen Select Works in Arkansas.
Lumen Select is a personal-lines program built on tech-enabled underwriting, with a regional office in Paragould and a Mid-South focus. It isn't an insurance company — it's a program administrator, and your policy is issued by Cimarron, a carrier that's been around since 1947. Here's how that structure works, what the program covers, and the honest read on a new program on old paper.
Short Answer
Cribb Insurance Group is an independent agency in Bentonville that compares Lumen Select against 40+ other carriers — and since Lumen Select is sold only through independent agents, an agency is the only way in. Lumen Select is a program administrator, not an insurer: your policy is issued by Cimarron Insurance Company (founded 1947, rated A by Demotech). The program covers owner-occupied homes and private passenger auto across a four-state footprint (AR, MO, OK, TX). The honest read: a new program on established paper, with real Arkansas roots — worth quoting, worth comparing.
Lumen Select administers. Cimarron insures.
This is the part most carrier pages bury, so we'll lead with it. Lumen Select, LLC is a program administrator — in industry terms, a managing general agent. It designs the product, underwrites it, runs the technology, and services the business. What it does not do is carry the risk. The policy you receive is issued by Cimarron Insurance Company, Inc., an admitted property and casualty carrier founded in 1947 and rated A by Demotech.
That's a completely normal structure — a large share of specialty and regional programs are built this way, and "admitted" means the paper is licensed and regulated in the state, with the usual state protections behind it. But it changes which question you should ask. When someone asks whether Lumen Select is financially strong, the meaningful answer is about Cimarron's balance sheet and rating, not about the program administrator's brand.
The honest boundary: a strong underwriter doesn't automatically make a young program a known quantity. The Lumen Select program launched in 2024, so its claims record, renewal behavior, and rate stability are still being written. The paper is decades old; the program is not. We think that's a fair trade at the right price — we just won't pretend the program has a track record it hasn't earned yet.
The program administrator
Designs the product, sets underwriting rules, runs the digital platform and agent portal, and services policies. Headquartered in Dallas with a regional office in Paragould, Arkansas, and a subsidiary of Lumen Holdings. It administers — it doesn't carry the risk.
The company on your policy
The admitted carrier that actually issues the policy and pays the claims, founded in 1947 and rated A by Demotech. This is the name on your declarations page, and it's the one that matters when you're asking whether the coverage will be there.
Where a Lumen Select policy earns its keep.
The coverage on a Lumen Select home or auto policy looks like everyone else's. The difference is in how it's underwritten, where it's focused, and how you have to buy it. Three worth naming; the line pages go deep on each.
Tech-enabled underwriting, aimed at cost
Lumen Select was built around a modern underwriting platform rather than a legacy one — a producer portal that handles submissions, endorsements, documents, and renewals digitally. The stated goal is lower expense, and therefore lower cost to the policyholder. Our honest add: efficient underwriting is a real advantage, but it's an input to price, not a promise about it. The only way to know where you land is to run the quote against other markets — which is what we do.
Genuine Arkansas roots and a Mid-South focus
This isn't a national carrier treating Arkansas as a rounding error. Lumen Select operates a regional office in Paragould, Arkansas, its program president is Arkansas-based, and the program launched across a deliberately small Mid-South and Southwest footprint. For Arkansas homeowners, that regional attention can mean underwriting that actually understands local property and weather.
Sold only through independent agents
You can't buy Lumen Select from a TV ad or an app. The program is distributed exclusively through independent agents, which means the entire design assumes somebody is looking at your whole account rather than pushing you through a funnel. That's genuinely to your benefit — it means the coverage gets set by someone who has to answer to you at renewal. It also means an agency like ours is the only door in.
Owner-occupied home and personal auto.
The Lumen Select program is deliberately narrow. Here's what's actually in it for Northwest Arkansas households.

Not in this program
"Owner-occupied" is the word that matters.
The Lumen Select home program is built for the home you actually live in. That means it is generally not the market for a rental property, a vacant or seasonal dwelling, or a manufactured home — those need a specialty carrier written for them.
And there's no commercial insurance in this program. If you own a business, that's an entirely different set of carriers. None of this is a problem — it's what an independent agency is for. Your house and cars can sit with Lumen Select while your rental, your manufactured home, or your business sits with the market built for it.
A note on quoting it — and why the agent matters here
Because Lumen Select is agent-only, you can't comparison-shop it yourself on a rate site, which cuts both ways. The upside: the program isn't engineered around a teaser price to win a click. The downside: you have no way to know if it's competitive without an agency that carries it and carries the alternatives. That's exactly the position we're in — we can put the Lumen Select number next to 40+ other markets and show you the actual comparison. Start with the quote, then let the comparison decide.
The lines, in detail.
Each of these gets its own page, with the Arkansas specifics and the parts a quick quote skips.
Lumen Cribby reads the name on the paper.
Cribby the Chameleon is our guide to reading a personal policy in plain English.
A chameleon adapts to its surroundings — which is the whole idea on a household account. Cribby looks at what you're actually protecting: the house and the roof, the cars and the drivers. Then Cribby checks the thing most people skip — who issues the policy, what the coverage really says, and whether this program beats the other markets on your specific account. If it doesn't, Cribby says so.
Ask about Cimarron, not Lumen.
New program, established paper — how we'd weigh it
Here's the balanced read. In the plus column: an admitted carrier with a 1947 founding date, a current Demotech rating, real Arkansas presence, underwriting technology built to hold cost down, and agent-only distribution that keeps a human accountable for your account. In the watch column: a short program track record, a small state footprint, and no long history yet on how this program handles claims volume or prices renewals. That's not a reason to avoid it — it's a reason to compare it honestly and revisit at renewal, which is what we'd do with any carrier.
What we actually do at a claim
Narrower than some agencies imply, and we'd rather be straight about it. We don't adjust your claim and we can't overrule an adjuster.
What we do: make sure the coverage is set correctly before a loss, help you decide whether a claim is worth filing, identify the coverage that should respond, chase the file when it stalls, flag when a renewal increase means it's time to re-shop, and move your home and auto to another of our markets if this program stops fitting. On a newer program, that last one matters more than usual — and a direct-to-consumer channel structurally can't do it for you.
Priced on your household, not a table.
Those are the typical ranges for policies placed through Cribb Insurance Group across our markets — Cribb averages, not Lumen Select rates and not a quote. The home band reflects a five-year-old $400,000 Northwest Arkansas home. The program's pitch is that efficient underwriting lowers expense, and lower expense should show up in the price — but the number still gets rated on your home's rebuild cost and roof, your vehicles and drivers, location, deductibles, and (where allowed) credit. Some households fall below these bands and some well above them. Run the real quote and we'll show you whether the efficiency story actually reached your premium.

This page describes coverage in general terms for informational purposes only. It is not a policy, not an offer of insurance, and not a guarantee of coverage, availability, eligibility, or price. The Lumen Select personal-lines program is limited to owner-occupied homeowners and private passenger auto insurance and does not write commercial insurance; it is generally not a market for rental, vacant, seasonal, or manufactured-home property. The program operates in a limited number of states (Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas at launch), and product availability, coverage forms, endorsements, and eligibility vary by state, by product, by policy, and over time, are set by the carrier, and are subject to underwriting approval and to the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions of the policy actually issued. If anything on this page conflicts with the issued policy, the policy controls.
Financial Stability Ratings are opinions of an insurer's financial stability, are subject to change, and are not recommendations to purchase, hold or terminate any policy, nor do they address an insurer's claims-handling practices; current ratings are at demotech.com. The A Financial Stability Rating referenced is assigned by Demotech to Cimarron Insurance Company, Inc., the issuing carrier, and not to Lumen Select, LLC. Demotech is a separate rating organization from AM Best; ratings from different agencies are not directly comparable. Cost figures shown reflect policies placed through Cribb Insurance Group across our markets; the homeowners band reflects a five-year-old $400,000 Northwest Arkansas home and the auto band reflects full-coverage auto. They are Cribb averages, not Lumen Select, Cimarron, or carrier-specific rates, not a quote, and not a guarantee of your rate or your renewal. Any premium is determined by the carrier at quote based on your specific home, drivers, and vehicles.
