How Liberty Mutual Works in Arkansas

One of the largest insurers in the country — sixth-largest in personal lines — reaching you through a local independent agency. Here's what that pairing actually gets you, the ten personal lines we place, the separate commercial appointment behind them, and how we'll tell you when Liberty Mutual isn't the answer.

Short Answer

Cribb Insurance Group is an independent Liberty Mutual agency in Bentonville. Liberty Mutual is one of the largest insurers in the United States — sixth-largest in personal lines, founded in 1912 — and it reaches you through independent agents like us. We place ten Liberty Mutual personal lines and hold a separate commercial appointment covering nine more, and we quote all of it against 40+ other carriers. AM Best affirmed the members of Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc. — the group behind the companies that write your policy — at A (Excellent), stable, on September 10, 2025.

National scale, local agent

A top-6 insurer, bought the independent way.

Liberty Mutual was founded in Boston in 1912 and has grown into one of the largest property-casualty insurers in the world and the sixth-largest personal lines insurer in the United States. That's the balance sheet standing behind an Arkansas home or auto policy — real national scale, an A (Excellent) financial strength rating, and a claims operation built to match.

The part that matters for you is how that scale reaches you. Liberty Mutual runs a direct channel and an independent-agent channel — and the independent-agent channel is the one we work in. Both are legitimate. What the agent path adds is simple: the same top-6 carrier, plus someone who also represents 40 other carriers and will tell you honestly when one of them fits your account better.

Direct channel

Buy straight from the carrier

You can buy some Liberty Mutual coverage directly from the company. That's a perfectly normal way to buy insurance, and for a simple, single policy it can be quick. It just means the only carrier in the room is Liberty Mutual, and the only coverage compared is its own.

Through Cribb

Same carrier, plus an advocate

Placed through our appointment, your policy is on the same Liberty Mutual paper — the same A (Excellent) balance sheet — but it comes with an independent agency that also represents 40 other markets. You get the national carrier and a local advocate in one policy, and an honest read on when to switch.

One practical note: on the lines we place, there isn't a separate "buy direct and skip the agent" discount to chase. The coverage comes through an agency, so you may as well have one that also represents 40 other carriers and can tell you when a different one fits better.
The programs on top

Where a Liberty Mutual policy earns its keep.

The base coverage grid on a Liberty Mutual home or auto policy looks like everyone else's. The difference — same as any carrier — is in the programs bolted onto it. A few worth naming here; the line pages go deep on each.

New Car Replacement® and Better Car Replacement™

Two of Liberty Mutual's best-known auto features. New Car Replacement can pay for a brand-new vehicle of the same make and model — not a depreciated value — if a qualifying new car is totaled early in its life. Better Car Replacement can put you in a newer, lower-mileage vehicle than the one you lost. Whether either is on your policy, and the exact eligibility, is precisely what the auto page and a coverage review are for.

Accident Forgiveness and the Deductible Fund

Accident Forgiveness can keep your first at-fault accident from driving up your premium once you've earned it with a clean record. The Deductible Fund lets you build credits toward a lower deductible for the years you don't file a claim. These are the kind of features people forget they have — which is exactly what a review with an agent is for.

RightTrack® — telematics, named honestly

RightTrack is Liberty Mutual's usage-based auto program. You typically earn a discount just for enrolling, and safe driving over the tracked period can grow it into a larger safe-driving discount. We name it as the strength it is — but we won't oversell it: a usage-based program reflects how you actually drive, so the right fit depends on your real driving pattern.

The exact Arkansas terms and discount mechanics live on the auto page. The rule is the same as always: have the conversation before you enroll, not after — which is the part an agent is for.
What we place

Ten personal lines. Plus nine commercial.

Not everything Liberty Mutual writes nationally — what we place for Northwest Arkansas. The ten below are our personal lines. Commercial runs on a separate appointment and adds nine more.

Home & property

  • Auto
  • Homeowners
  • Condo
  • Renters
  • Landlord / rental dwelling
  • Personal umbrella

On the road & water

  • Motorcycle
  • Motorhome / RV
  • Boat
  • ATV / off-road

Commercial appointment

  • Business owners policy (BOP)
  • General liability
  • Commercial property
  • Commercial auto
  • Workers' compensation
  • Commercial umbrella / excess
  • Inland marine
  • Cyber liability
  • Surety bonds

The toys don't ride on the home policy

This is the one that sits between pages, so it's easy to miss. A motorcycle, a boat, a camper, a side-by-side — the things parked in the garage or on a trailer in the driveway — generally need their own policy, not a line item on your homeowners form. A homeowner's contents sublimit is not toy insurance, and it isn't built to pay a real loss on a machine that leaves the property under its own power.

That's why motorcycle, boat, RV, and ATV are on our list as separate lines. If it has a motor and a title, or a hull and a trailer, ask — that's a two-minute call, and most households who own one have never been told there's a policy for it.

Liberty Mutual Commercial — a separate appointment

Our commercial book with Liberty Mutual is a different contract from the ten personal lines above, and it covers the BOP, general liability, commercial property, commercial auto, workers' compensation, commercial umbrella/excess, inland marine, cyber liability, and surety bonds. Liberty Mutual has been writing commercial insurance since it was founded on workers' compensation in 1912, which is part of why the appetite is broad. Because eligibility is decided on the facts of your operation, the fastest path is a short conversation. Start a commercial quote or call us.

Meet Cribby

Liberty Mutual Cribby reads the fine print for you.

Cribby the Chameleon is our guide to reading a policy in plain English.

A chameleon notices what's actually there. On a Liberty Mutual account that's usually the things nobody mentioned — the New Car Replacement you qualify for, the deductible credits you've been building, the camper that needs its own policy. That's a coverage review, in chameleon form.

Financial strength

A (Excellent) — and which company that describes.

A AM Best · Excellent

On September 10, 2025, AM Best affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of "a" (Excellent), stable outlook, for the members of Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc. — the group behind the companies that write your Arkansas home, auto, and commercial policies.

A (Excellent) is the third of AM Best's rating levels and is a genuinely strong rating. We name the exact rated group on purpose — a letter grade only means something when you know which company it describes. Ratings change; the current one is at ambest.com.

A rating is a solvency opinion, not a claims opinion

AM Best is explicit that a Financial Strength Rating does not address a carrier's claims-handling practices and is not a recommendation to buy or keep any policy. So an A (Excellent) tells you Liberty Mutual's P&C companies can pay. That's real and worth knowing — it just isn't the same question as how a claim will go. Different questions, different sources. Anyone handing you a letter grade as the answer to all of them is handing you a logo.

What we actually do at a claim

Narrower than some agencies imply, and we'd rather be straight about it. We don't adjust your claim and we can't overrule an adjuster.

What we do: tell you whether a claim is worth filing before you file it, make sure the coverage that should respond gets identified, chase the file when it stalls, and move you to another of our markets if Liberty Mutual stops fitting. That last one is the part a direct-only relationship structurally can't do.

What it costs

Planning ranges, not quotes.

$79 – $105 per month · full-coverage auto
$1,362 – $2,250 per year · bundled homeowners

Typical ranges for policies placed through Cribb Insurance Group across our markets; the homeowners band reflects a five-year-old $400,000 Northwest Arkansas home. These are not quotes, not carrier-specific, and not a guarantee. Auto depends on vehicles, drivers, limits, deductibles, garaging ZIP, driving history and credit-based insurance score. Home depends on dwelling value, roof age and material, construction, protection class, deductible selections, claims history and credit-based insurance score. Some households fall below these bands and some fall well above them.

FAQ

Liberty Mutual in Arkansas: common questions.

What does Cribb Insurance Group place through Liberty Mutual?
On the personal side we place ten lines: auto, home, condo, renters, landlord (rental dwelling), umbrella, motorcycle, motorhome/RV, boat, and ATV/off-road. On the commercial side, through a separate appointment, we place nine: the business owners policy (BOP), general liability, commercial property, commercial auto, workers' compensation, commercial umbrella/excess, inland marine, cyber liability, and surety bonds. Liberty Mutual writes more than this nationally, but this is what we place for Northwest Arkansas. If your need falls outside this list, we can usually place it with one of our other 40-plus carriers.
Why buy Liberty Mutual through an independent agent instead of direct?
Liberty Mutual reaches customers two ways: its own direct channel and the independent-agent channel, which is the one we work in. Both are legitimate. What the independent-agent path adds is that the exact same top-6 carrier and balance sheet come with someone who also represents 40 other carriers and can tell you, honestly, when a different one fits your account better. You get a national insurer's scale and a local agent's advocacy in the same policy. On the lines we place, there's no separate discount for skipping the agent — the agent is simply part of how the coverage is bought.
Is Liberty Mutual financially strong?
Yes. On September 10, 2025, AM Best affirmed a Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of "a" (Excellent), stable outlook, for the members of Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc. — the group behind the companies that write your Arkansas home, auto, and commercial policies. A (Excellent) is the third of AM Best's rating levels and is a strong rating. A financial strength rating is an opinion about an insurer's ability to pay claims — its solvency — not a rating of how a specific claim will be handled. Ratings change; the current one is at ambest.com.
How does Liberty Mutual's RightTrack telematics program work?
RightTrack is Liberty Mutual's usage-based auto program. You typically earn a discount just for enrolling, and safe driving over the tracked period can grow that into a larger safe-driving discount. Unlike some programs structured purely as a discount, a usage-based program like this reflects how you actually drive, so the right fit depends on your real driving pattern — which is the conversation to have before you enroll, not after. The current Arkansas terms and the exact discount mechanics belong on the auto page, and we'll walk you through whether it fits your household.
Does Liberty Mutual write commercial insurance in Arkansas?
Yes, and our commercial book with Liberty Mutual is a separate appointment from the ten personal lines. Through it we place the BOP, general liability, commercial property, commercial auto, workers' compensation, commercial umbrella/excess, inland marine, cyber liability, and surety bonds for Northwest Arkansas businesses. Because commercial eligibility is decided on the facts of your operation, the fastest path is a short conversation or a commercial quote rather than a webpage.
