The bike, the gear, and the parts you bolted on.

Liberty Mutual motorcycle coverage protects street bikes, cruisers, touring bikes, and dirt bikes — and it comes with things a lot of riders assume they'd have to buy separately: custom parts and equipment built in, replacement coverage for your riding gear, OEM-parts repair, and roadside assistance made for two wheels. Here's what it covers, how Arkansas law affects you, and the discounts that bring the price down. From an independent agency that places Liberty Mutual every day.

The short answer

Liberty Mutual motorcycle insurance covers your liability, your bike, and usually more than riders expect — custom parts and equipment, safety-apparel replacement, OEM-parts repair, and motorcycle roadside assistance. It insures a wide range: street cycles, cruisers, touring bikes, and dirt bikes. In Arkansas, a bike must carry liability (25/50/25 minimum), riders and passengers under 21 must wear a helmet, and everyone must wear eye protection. Backed by an A (Excellent) carrier, quoted against 40+ others.

What it covers

The core policy, built for a bike.

The foundation looks a lot like auto coverage — liability, physical damage, and protection from other drivers — tuned to how motorcycles are ridden and repaired.

Required in Arkansas

Liability

Pays for the injuries and property damage you're responsible for in an at-fault crash. Guest-passenger liability is generally included within your liability limits — the person on the back is covered too.

Your bike

Collision

Helps pay to repair or replace your motorcycle after a collision with another vehicle or an object — regardless of who was at fault.

Off-collision losses

Comprehensive

Covers theft, vandalism, fire, and weather, plus falling objects and hitting an animal. For a bike that spends its life outdoors, it's the coverage that answers most "it wasn't even a crash" claims.

The other driver's gap

Uninsured / underinsured motorist

Steps in when the driver who hits you has no insurance or not enough. In a state where roughly one in six drivers is uninsured, it matters most for the rider — who has the least protection in a collision.

Regardless of fault

Medical payments

Helps with hospital and medical bills for you and a guest passenger after an accident, no matter who caused it — a fast-moving coverage when injuries are involved.

Higher limits available

Umbrella-ready limits

This line offers underlying liability limits high enough to sit beneath a personal umbrella — so a bike doesn't become the weak link in your wider liability protection.

Built for riders

The coverage that comes standard here.

This is where a motorcycle policy earns its keep. These are the pieces riders are surprised to learn are built in — or available without much cost.

Included, up to a limit

Custom parts & equipment

The permanent add-ons — chrome, custom seats and bars, saddlebags, audio, paint — are covered, with a base amount built in at no extra cost (commonly around the first $3,000) and higher limits available for a bigger build. Exact amounts are confirmed at quote.

Often no deductible

Safety-apparel replacement

Helps replace your helmet, jacket, boots, gloves, and other gear damaged in a covered crash — commonly up to a set amount per person, frequently with no deductible. The gear that protects you is protected too.

With comp & collision

OEM-parts repair

When you carry comprehensive and collision, covered repairs can use original-equipment-manufacturer parts — so a repaired bike is put back with the right components, not just the cheapest match.

Two-wheel specific

Roadside & trip interruption

Towing to a qualified shop, fuel and fluids, basic emergency service, and trip-interruption help if a breakdown strands you away from home — a roadside benefit designed around how bikes actually get sidelined.

The range

From a commuter to a custom build.

Street to dirt one flexible program

This is one of the more accommodating motorcycle programs we place — flexible enough to reach builds that some carriers won't touch. What qualifies, and on what terms, is confirmed at quote.

What it insures.

The program covers a full spread of street machines — standards and commuters, cruisers, touring bikes, sport bikes, and heavyweight touring and Harley-class motorcycles — along with dirt bikes. The same product family extends to off-road and recreational vehicles as well, which we set up separately on the off-road page so each is rated for how it's actually used.

If you ride something unusual — a heavily modified bike, an older machine, a homemade or kit build — it's still worth a conversation. This line is known for insuring bikes other carriers decline, and an independent agency is exactly where a non-standard bike gets a fair look instead of an automatic no.

Arkansas rules, honestly

What the state requires — and what it doesn't.

25/50/25 required liability · helmet under 21

Arkansas requires liability insurance on a motorcycle at 25/50/25 minimum. Riders and passengers under 21 must wear a helmet, and everyone must wear eye protection, under Ark. Code § 27-20-104.

Where the minimum falls short.

That 25/50/25 figure is a legal floor, not a safe target. A motorcycle rider is far more exposed in a crash than a driver, so a serious at-fault accident can run well past minimum limits — and in an at-fault state, the shortfall lands on you. Carrying meaningful liability, and adding uninsured/underinsured motorist, is the honest way to ride covered.

On helmets, Arkansas is a choice state for adults: required under 21, optional at 21 and up, with eye protection required for everyone. One thing worth knowing — Arkansas follows modified comparative negligence, so if a rider who was legally required to wear a helmet wasn't, that can be weighed against an injury claim. We can't give legal advice, but we can make sure the coverage side is set up right.

Ways to save

Most riders qualify for more than one.

Motorcycle policies carry a deep discount list, and they stack — up to a limit. We run your specifics and apply every credit you're eligible for. (Amounts vary and aren't published here; they're confirmed at quote.)

Training

Safety Course

For completing a recognized rider-safety or instructor course within the last few years.

More than one bike

Multi-Cycle

When your policy insures more than one motorcycle — the more cycles, the deeper the credit.

Bundle

Homeowners & Companion Policy

For owning your home, and for carrying another personal policy — home, auto, or renters — with the same carrier.

On the bike

Anti-Lock Brakes

For a motorcycle equipped with a factory-installed anti-lock braking system.

Time in the saddle

Experience

For riders with years of operating experience — the credit grows with the years you've ridden.

How you pay & more

Paid in Full & others

For paying the term up front — plus credits for association membership, garaging, a recovery device, prior insurance, ownership, quoting ahead, and staying claims-free.

Why it lives best with one agency

A bike is where bundling pays off.

Add the bike to the account and the math changes.

The largest motorcycle credits are the ones that reward the rest of your account — a homeowners credit, a companion-policy credit for the auto or home you already carry, and the multi-cycle break when there's more than one bike. When one agency holds the whole picture, those credits get applied on purpose instead of missed. It's also where we catch that your bike's liability limits are high enough to sit under a personal umbrella, rather than leaving a gap.

Two things to get right on a bike.

First, value your build honestly — the base custom-parts amount is generous, but a bike with real money in parts needs the higher limit set on purpose, not discovered at claim time. Second, don't ride on minimums just because it's a motorcycle; the rider is the one most exposed. We'll size custom parts to your actual build, set liability where it belongs, and stack every discount that fits.

Strength & what we do

Backed by an A (Excellent) carrier.

On September 10, 2025, AM Best affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent) for the members of Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc., stable outlook — the group behind the companies that write this coverage in Arkansas. A financial strength rating is an opinion about an insurer's ability to pay claims; it doesn't grade how a specific claim is handled and isn't a recommendation. The current rating is at ambest.com.

Where we earn it on a bike.

The quiet motorcycle mistakes are under-valued custom parts and minimum-limit liability — both fine until the day they aren't. We size the build, set the limits, and confirm you've captured the bundle and rider credits you qualify for. We don't adjust your claim and can't overrule an adjuster — but we'll make sure the policy was built right in the first place, and we'll move you to another of our 40-plus markets if Liberty Mutual stops being the best fit for what you ride.

What it costs

Often less than riders expect.

Depends on the ride & the discounts you earn

Motorcycle premiums turn on the bike, how it's stored and ridden, your experience, the coverages you choose, and the value of your custom parts — so a posted number would mislead. The upside is the discount list is deep, and stacking a few can move the price meaningfully. This isn't a quote or a guarantee. Send us what you ride and we'll build the real figure with you, LM against 40-plus carriers.

Frequently asked questions

Liberty Mutual motorcycle questions.

Does Liberty Mutual cover custom parts and accessories on my motorcycle?

Yes. This motorcycle line builds in custom parts and equipment coverage — a base amount (commonly around the first $3,000) is included at no extra cost, and higher limits are available if your build is worth more. It's designed for the permanent additions most riders make: chrome, custom seats and handlebars, saddlebags, audio, and custom paint.

You generally don't have to itemize every part to get the base coverage, though it's smart to review your accessory list each year. The exact included amount and the higher limits available are set by the policy and confirmed at quote — send us your build and we'll size it correctly.

What kinds of motorcycles and bikes can I insure?

A wide range — street cycles, cruisers, touring bikes, sport bikes, and dirt bikes, from everyday commuters to Harley-class and touring machines. The same product family also extends to off-road and recreational vehicles, which we handle on the off-road page.

It's one of the more flexible motorcycle programs we place, and eligibility even reaches some builds other carriers turn away. Whether a specific bike qualifies, and at what terms, is confirmed at quote — tell us what you ride and we'll check it.

Is motorcycle insurance required in Arkansas?

Yes. Arkansas requires liability insurance on a motorcycle, with state minimum limits of 25/50/25 — $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, and $25,000 for property damage. That's a floor, not a target: in an at-fault state, minimum limits are often far too thin for a serious crash. Coverages like collision, comprehensive, uninsured/underinsured motorist, and medical payments are optional but strongly worth carrying.

Separately, Arkansas requires riders and passengers under 21 to wear a helmet, and everyone to wear eye protection, under Ark. Code § 27-20-104. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does the policy cover my helmet and riding gear?

It can. This motorcycle line includes safety-apparel coverage that helps replace your helmet, jacket, boots, gloves, and other riding gear damaged in a covered crash — commonly up to a set amount per person with no deductible.

On top of that, medical payments coverage can help with hospital and medical bills for you and a guest passenger after an accident, regardless of who was at fault. The exact apparel amount and terms are set by the policy and confirmed at quote.

What discounts can lower my motorcycle premium?

Several, and most riders qualify for more than one. Depending on your situation, credits can apply for completing a safety course, insuring more than one cycle, owning your home, carrying another personal policy with the same carrier, belonging to a recognized rider association (groups like the MSF, AMA, or a marque owners' club), factory anti-lock brakes, paying the term in full, years of riding experience, prior continuous coverage, and quoting ahead of your start date.

We don't publish the percentages here because they vary and there's a cap on how much stacks — but we'll run your specifics and apply every one you're eligible for.
