★ Progressive Platinum Agency

How Progressive Works in Arkansas

Platinum is Progressive's top tier for independent agencies, it's earned rather than bought, and most agencies quoting Progressive don't hold it. Here's what it changes for you, the nine personal lines we place, the commercial appointment behind them — and how we'll tell you when Progressive isn't the answer.

Short Answer

Cribb Insurance Group is a Progressive Platinum agency in Bentonville with direct Progressive Home access. We place nine Progressive personal lines and hold a separate Progressive Commercial appointment, and we quote all of it against 40+ other carriers. AM Best affirmed the members of The Progressive Corporation — auto and home companies alike — at A+ (Superior), stable, on May 1, 2026. Habitational rental property runs through the commercial BOP program, where Lessors Risk is a purpose-built package.

What Platinum changes

The name on your quote is the name on your policy.

Progressive entered homeowners by acquiring ASI — a controlling interest in 2015, the rest by 2020 — and today the Progressive Home companies carry the same A+ (Superior) rating as Progressive's auto companies. That parity isn't automatic in this industry, and it's worth knowing.

Progressive reaches home customers two ways. It writes policies on its own Progressive Home companies, and it also runs a marketplace that places some customers with partner carriers in its network. Both are legitimate, and the marketplace is genuinely useful — it lets Progressive find a home for households its own companies can't write, where the alternative would be turning them away.

The practical thing to know is simply that whichever company underwrites your policy is the company that handles your claim. That's worth asking any agent about, and it has a real answer.

One way

Through the marketplace

Progressive places some home customers with partner carriers it has selected. The partner underwrites the policy, and the partner handles the claim — Progressive says so directly, telling those customers to contact their carrier using the number on the policy. It's a real service for households that need it.

Through us

Actual Progressive Home paper

Platinum access means we place Progressive Home directly, on Progressive Home companies — American Strategic, ASI Assurance, ASI Home, ASI Preferred, ASI Select. Same A+ (Superior) rating as Progressive's auto companies. The name on the quote is the name on the policy, and the A+ above describes yours.

This is also why Progressive's home product has a reputation that isn't really about Progressive. A lot of the bad experiences attached to the brand belong to companies that merely rented it. If you're going to judge Progressive Home, judge the thing itself — and make sure that's what you're holding.
Platinum

Earned, not purchased.

★ Progressive Platinum Agency

Platinum is Progressive's top tier for independent agencies. It's earned on performance, not purchased, and most agencies quoting Progressive don't hold it. Two concrete consequences:

Direct Progressive Home access. The section above, in practice. We aren't routing you through a marketplace.

Direct home and auto bundling, where it's available and appropriate — which also unlocks Loyalty Plus, adding a Multi Policy Discount and priority call routing on top of your loyalty tier.

You can verify our status on Progressive's own agent directory rather than taking our word for it.

And here's the honest part: the badge doesn't mean Progressive is your answer. We're appointed with 40+ carriers and Platinum doesn't change what your account should look like. It means that when Progressive is right, we can build it properly — and when it isn't, saying so costs us nothing.

The one deductible thing

Bundle Progressive Home with Progressive auto and a single event that damages both your house and your car costs you one deductible, not two. A hailstorm takes the roof and dents the truck in the same twenty minutes — which in Benton County is a Tuesday — and you pay once.

That's unusual, it's worth real money on exactly the loss NWA households actually have, and it only exists when both policies sit with the same carrier. It's the mechanical payoff of the bundle, and it's the part nobody mentions because it only shows up at a claim.

What we place

Nine personal lines. Plus commercial.

Not everything Progressive writes nationally — what our contracts hold in Arkansas. The nine below are our personal lines contract. Commercial runs on a separate appointment.

Progressive Commercial — a separate appointment

Progressive is the largest commercial auto and truck insurer in the country, and its commercial appetite is genuinely broad: over 1,400 business types across five programs, written for established companies, new ventures and higher-risk drivers alike. That's an unusual sentence in commercial insurance, and it's why we quote it for Northwest Arkansas contractors, haulers and small businesses every week.

Our commercial book is on Progressive's own paper. It covers commercial auto, business owners policies and contractors general liability — a different contract from the nine personal lines above, and worth its own conversation. Start a commercial quote or call us.

Your trailer has a home, and it's Recreational Lines

This is the one you can only see from up here, because the answer sits between the auto page and the home page and neither one owns it.

Progressive's personal auto program no longer accepts trailers. Existing ones ride along until the policy lapses; new ones don't get added. And the homeowners policy carries a trailer sublimit of $1,500 at the base tier — which is a contents sublimit that happens to mention trailers rather than trailer insurance.

So if you haul a mower, a side-by-side, or a bass boat behind your truck, that trailer wants its own policy — and Progressive has a purpose-built one: Travel Trailer through Recreational Lines. Most households in Benton and Washington County who own a trailer have simply never been told there's a place for it.

Same shape for watercraft: $1,500 of contents sublimit is not a boat policy. If it's on a trailer in your driveway, ask — that's a boat policy conversation.

Rental property moved to a package built for it

Progressive moved habitational rental property from personal lines to its BOP program — commercial insurance, different underwriting, a different form. That's not a door closing. Lessors Risk is one of six purpose-built Business Select packages, which means a duplex gets insured on a package designed for people who own buildings and rent them out, rather than on a personal form designed for someone's house.

We've verified that habitational risks are available in Arkansas, so we can place it. If you're holding a Progressive landlord policy today, it's worth having that conversation on your schedule rather than a renewal notice's. Start a commercial quote or call — we'll tell you your options, including markets other than Progressive.

Whether a specific building qualifies is an underwriting question with real, specific limits behind it. That's a thirty-second phone call, not a webpage.

Meet Cribby

Progressive Cribby asks what's in the garage.

Cribby the Chameleon is our guide to reading a policy in plain English.

A chameleon notices what's actually there. On a Progressive account that's usually the things nobody mentioned — the trailer that needs its own policy, the e-bike nobody scheduled, the tractor everyone assumed was covered somewhere. Progressive Cribby's here for that conversation.

Financial strength

A+ (Superior), auto and home alike.

A+ AM Best · Superior

On May 1, 2026, AM Best affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A+ (Superior) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of aa (Superior), stable outlook, for the members of The Progressive Corporation. That list includes Progressive Casualty Insurance Company — which issues Arkansas personal auto — and the Progressive Home companies: American Strategic Insurance Corp, ASI Assurance Corp, ASI Home Insurance Corp, ASI Preferred Insurance Corp and ASI Select Insurance Corp.

Auto and home carry the same rating here. That's worth saying because it isn't automatic — plenty of carriers rate their property arm separately and lower. Some Progressive affiliates are rated separately; the members of The Progressive Corporation is the list that matters for what we place. Ratings change; the current one is at ambest.com.

A rating is a solvency opinion, not a claims opinion

AM Best states plainly that a Financial Strength Rating "does not address… an insurer's claims-payment policies or procedures; the ability of the insurer to dispute or deny claims payment" and is not a recommendation to buy or keep any policy.

So A+ tells you Progressive can pay. It's a real and meaningful thing to know — it just isn't the same question as how a claim will go. Different questions, different sources. Anyone handing you a letter grade as the answer to all of them is handing you a logo.

What we actually do at a claim

Narrower than some agencies imply, and we'd rather be straight about it. We don't adjust your claim and we can't overrule an adjuster.

What we do: tell you whether a claim is worth filing before you file it — which against an $8,000 wind/hail deductible is frequently the whole question — make sure the coverage that should respond gets identified, chase the file when it stalls, and move you to another of our markets if Progressive stops fitting. That last one is the part a captive agent structurally cannot do.

What it costs

Planning ranges, not quotes.

$79 – $105 per month · full-coverage auto
$1,362 – $2,250 per year · bundled homeowners

Typical ranges for policies placed through Cribb Insurance Group across our markets; the homeowners band reflects a five-year-old $400,000 Northwest Arkansas home. These are not quotes, not carrier-specific, and not a guarantee. Auto depends on vehicles, drivers, limits, deductibles, garaging ZIP, driving history and credit-based insurance score. Home depends on dwelling value, roof age and material, construction, protection class, deductible selections, claims history and credit-based insurance score. Some households fall below these bands and some fall well above them.

FAQ

Progressive in Arkansas: common questions.

What does Progressive Platinum agency status actually mean?
Platinum is Progressive's top tier for independent agencies. It's earned on performance rather than purchased, and most agencies quoting Progressive don't hold it. The practical difference is direct Progressive Home access — your home policy is written on the Progressive Home companies themselves — and the ability to bundle home and auto directly with Progressive where that's available and appropriate, which also unlocks Loyalty Plus. You can verify our status on Progressive's own agent directory rather than taking our word for it.
Is Progressive home insurance bought online the same as Progressive home insurance bought through an agent?
Not always, and it's worth understanding. Progressive reaches home customers two ways: it writes policies on its own Progressive Home companies, and it also runs a marketplace that places some customers with partner carriers in its network. The marketplace is a genuinely useful structure — it lets Progressive find a home for households its own companies aren't able to write, where the alternative would be turning them away. The practical thing to know is that whichever company underwrites your policy is the company that handles your claim. Cribb Insurance Group has direct Progressive Home access through Platinum, so what we place is Progressive Home paper on the Progressive Home companies. The name on the quote is the name on the policy.
Is Progressive financially strong?
On May 1, 2026, AM Best affirmed a Financial Strength Rating of A+ (Superior) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of "aa" (Superior), with a stable outlook, for the members of The Progressive Corporation. That list includes Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, which issues Arkansas personal auto, and the Progressive Home companies — American Strategic Insurance Corp, ASI Assurance Corp, ASI Home Insurance Corp, ASI Preferred Insurance Corp and ASI Select Insurance Corp. Auto and home carry the same rating here, which isn't automatic — plenty of carriers rate their property arm separately and lower. Some Progressive affiliates are rated separately. Ratings change; the current one is at ambest.com.
What lines does Cribb Insurance Group place through Progressive?
Nine personal lines: auto, home, motorhome, travel trailer, umbrella, boat, motorcycle, compact tractor and e-bikes. We also hold a separate Progressive Commercial appointment, which covers commercial auto, business owners policies and contractors general liability — a different contract, not part of the nine. Progressive writes more than this nationally; this is what our contracts hold in Arkansas. Habitational rental property runs through the commercial BOP program, since Progressive has sunset its personal landlord product.
Does Progressive still write landlord insurance in Arkansas?
Yes — through the commercial BOP program rather than as a personal lines product. Progressive moved habitational rental property to commercial, where Lessors Risk is one of six purpose-built Business Select packages. That's arguably a better fit than a personal form: a duplex insured on a package designed for building owners rather than on one designed for someone's house. We've verified that habitational risks are available in Arkansas, so we can place it. If you hold a Progressive landlord policy today, it's worth having that conversation on your schedule rather than a renewal notice's.
Where does my utility trailer go if Progressive auto won't take it?
On a Travel Trailer policy through Progressive's Recreational Lines program — Progressive has a purpose-built home for it. This is worth knowing because the answer sits between two policies. Progressive's personal auto program no longer accepts trailers, and the homeowners policy carries a trailer sublimit of $1,500 at the base tier, which is a contents sublimit rather than trailer insurance. So a utility trailer needs its own policy, and Recreational Lines is where it belongs. Most households who own one have never been told.
