How AssuranceAmerica Works in Arkansas

A nonstandard auto carrier that prices your policy without ever looking at your credit score — which, in a state where credit is a live rating factor for nearly everyone else, is the whole story. Here's what it writes, who it's built for, what it doesn't do, and how we'll tell you when it isn't your answer.

Short Answer

Cribb Insurance Group is an independent AssuranceAmerica agency in Bentonville. AssuranceAmerica is a nonstandard auto insurer founded in 1998 that writes personal auto, renters, and commercial auto through independent agents only. Its defining feature is that it does not use a credit score to price your policy. We place it across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, and we quote it against 40+ other carriers so you can see where it actually wins.

What makes it different

Your credit score never enters the conversation.

Most carriers writing auto insurance in Arkansas use a credit-based insurance score as a rating factor. It is legal here, it is common, and it is one of the least understood reasons two neighbours with identical cars and identical driving records pay very different premiums.

AssuranceAmerica does not use one. The carrier states plainly that it never asks for your credit score, and prices instead on the parts of your risk you would expect it to price. For a household whose credit took a hit from something that had nothing to do with driving — a medical event, a divorce, a stretch out of work — that is not a marketing line. It is a materially different way of arriving at your number.

The Arkansas backdrop

Credit is a live rating factor here

Arkansas permits credit-based insurance scoring, and the legislature wrote a consumer protection around it: under Ark. Code Ann. § 23-67-405, if your credit information has improved you may submit a written request compelling your insurer to re-rate the policy. That entitlement exists precisely because credit moves premiums.

Through Cribb

We can work both sides of that

If credit is hurting you today, AssuranceAmerica sidesteps the factor entirely. If your credit has recovered since your current policy was written, the statute above is a lever we can pull on the carrier you already have. Two different tools, same goal — and knowing which one applies to you is the actual job.

Worth saying out loud: this is not a claim that AssuranceAmerica will be cheaper for you. It is a claim that it prices differently. Whether different means better for your household is a quote, not a webpage — and we run it against our other markets before we tell you.
Who it's built for

The nonstandard market, explained without the euphemism.

AssuranceAmerica is a nonstandard auto carrier. That phrase gets used as though it were a polite insult. It isn't. It describes a segment of the market, not a judgement about a person, and the segment exists for a reason worth understanding.

What "nonstandard" actually means

Standard carriers price a fairly narrow band of risk. Step outside it — a couple of tickets, an at-fault accident, a lapse between policies, a short driving history, a thin file — and a standard carrier either declines the risk or surcharges it steeply. Nonstandard carriers are built to price that ground deliberately rather than treating it as an exception. The alternative, for a lot of drivers, is being uninsured.

It is very often a stage, not a destination

Violations age off. A lapse stops mattering once you have continuous coverage behind you. A new driver stops being a new driver. A great many drivers use a nonstandard carrier for a stretch and then qualify for a standard one again — and the expensive mistake is not noticing when that moment arrives, because nobody sends a letter telling you that you have become a better risk.

That is a specific thing we do. We re-shop the account as the record ages, and when a standard market opens up we move you. An independent agency is the only structure where that happens automatically instead of you having to start over.

Getting legal today is sometimes the whole problem

AssuranceAmerica is built for speed — a quote in about a minute and a half, and coverage that can start the same day. When you need a card in your hand before you can register a vehicle, get to work, or satisfy a lender, the fastest adequate policy beats the perfect one you can't have until Thursday. Then we look at the rest of it properly, once you're covered.

What we place

Three lines, done narrowly and on purpose.

AssuranceAmerica is a focused carrier, not a multiline one. The book is short and we would rather show you the whole of it than imply breadth that isn't there.

Commercial

What this carrier does not write — and why that's fine

There is no homeowners, no life, no umbrella, no farm, and no boat here. If you are used to carriers that want your whole household under one roof, the short book can read like a gap. It isn't one.

We are an independent agency with 40-plus markets, so your auto sitting with one carrier and your home with another is completely normal and costs you nothing structurally. The one thing worth knowing is that a multi-policy discount generally requires both policies at the same carrier — so when we split an account, we tell you what that trade looks like before you decide, not after.

Commercial auto for small operations

The commercial book is aimed squarely at small fleets and tradespeople — the contractor, painter, or landscaper whose vehicles are the business. Coverage runs the standard commercial auto grid: bodily injury and property damage liability, collision, comprehensive, and uninsured/underinsured motorist, with employees driving company-owned vehicles contemplated by the policy. Eligibility turns on the facts of your operation, so the fastest path is a short conversation. Start a commercial quote or call us.

Service in Spanish, not as an afterthought

AssuranceAmerica staffs Spanish-speaking service representatives as a standard part of its operation. Across Springdale, Rogers, and much of Northwest Arkansas that is a practical difference rather than a box on a brochure — it means a policyholder can handle a billing question or a claim in the language they actually think in, without a family member translating an insurance contract on speakerphone.

Arkansas law

What the state actually requires of you.

Under Ark. Code Ann. § 27-22-104, every Arkansas driver must carry liability coverage of at least 25/50/25 — $25,000 for bodily injury to one person, $50,000 for bodily injury per accident, and $25,000 for property damage.

What that floor does and doesn't reach

Liability pays for the other party's injuries and property when you are at fault. It pays nothing toward your own vehicle or your own injuries. Damage to your car comes from collision; theft, hail, and a deer come from comprehensive; injuries to you and your passengers come from medical payments; and a driver who hits you with no coverage at all is the reason uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage exists.

Any lender on a financed or leased vehicle will require collision and comprehensive regardless of what the state says. The statutory minimum is a legal floor, not a coverage plan — and the gap between the two is the conversation worth having before you bind rather than after a loss.

Meet Cribby

Cribby reads the fine print for you.

Cribby the Chameleon is our guide to reading a policy in plain English.

A chameleon notices what's actually there. On a nonstandard auto account that's usually the things nobody mentioned — the coverage you assumed was on there and isn't, the deductible you never chose, the vehicle that dropped off at the last renewal, and the moment your record has aged enough to put you back in a standard market. That's a coverage review, in chameleon form.

At a claim

What we actually do when something happens.

Narrower than some agencies imply, and we'd rather be straight about it. We don't adjust your claim and we can't overrule an adjuster.

What we do instead

We tell you whether a claim is worth filing before you file it. We make sure the coverage that should respond gets identified and pointed at. We chase the file when it stalls and you can't get a call back. And we move you to another of our markets when this one stops fitting your account.

The last one matters most in this market

A nonstandard policy is usually a stage. The single most valuable thing an independent agency does for a driver in this segment is notice when they've outgrown it — and re-shop the account instead of letting it renew quietly at a nonstandard rate for another three years. Carriers do not volunteer that you have become a better risk. We watch for it.

What it costs

Why there's no price range on this page.

Every other carrier page on this site carries our cross-market planning bands. This one deliberately doesn't, and the reason is worth stating rather than hiding.

Standard-market ranges would mislead you here

Our published planning ranges describe policies placed in the standard market. Nonstandard auto is priced on a different basis for a different risk profile, and printing a standard band on this page would set an expectation the quote wouldn't meet. We'd rather give you nothing than give you a number that's wrong for your situation.

What actually drives your premium here: your vehicles, your drivers and their records, the limits and deductibles you choose, where the vehicle is garaged, how long you've been continuously insured, and how recent any violations are. Two of those you can change, and the rest we work around. A real quote takes a few minutes and it's the only honest answer.

FAQ

AssuranceAmerica in Arkansas: common questions.

What does Cribb Insurance Group place through AssuranceAmerica?
Three lines: personal auto, renters, and commercial auto. AssuranceAmerica also offers a motor club roadside membership, which is a service plan rather than an insurance policy. That is the whole book — it is a focused carrier, not a multiline one, so there is no homeowners, life, umbrella, or farm coverage here. If your account needs any of those, we place them with one of our other 40-plus carriers, and there is no problem having your auto with one company and your home with another.
Does AssuranceAmerica use my credit score to set my rate?
No. AssuranceAmerica states plainly that it does not ask for or use a credit score when pricing a policy. That matters more in Arkansas than most people realize, because credit-based insurance scoring is permitted here and it is a meaningful rating factor for most carriers. If your credit has taken a hit — a medical event, a divorce, a stretch of unemployment — a carrier that does not look at it at all can price your risk very differently. Separately, Arkansas law under Ark. Code Ann. § 23-67-405 entitles you to submit a written request for a re-rate if your credit information has improved, and that entitlement applies to the carriers that do use credit. We will tell you which situation you are in.
What kind of driver is AssuranceAmerica built for?
AssuranceAmerica is a nonstandard auto carrier. That is an industry term for a market segment, not a judgement about anyone — it means the carrier is built to price drivers whom standard carriers decline or surcharge heavily. Tickets, at-fault accidents, a lapse in coverage, a short driving history, or a thin credit file are all common reasons a driver lands here. The point of a nonstandard market is that it exists so that people can be insured and legal rather than uninsured. Many drivers use it for a period and move back to a standard carrier once the record ages, and we watch for that moment on your behalf.
What is the minimum car insurance required in Arkansas?
Arkansas requires every driver to carry liability coverage of at least 25/50/25 under Ark. Code Ann. § 27-22-104: $25,000 for bodily injury to one person, $50,000 for bodily injury per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. That is the statutory floor. It pays only for the other party's injuries and property when you are at fault, and nothing toward your own vehicle or your own injuries. Collision and comprehensive are separate coverages, and any lender on a financed or leased vehicle will require them. We walk through where each coverage does and does not respond before you decide.
Can I get AssuranceAmerica coverage in Oklahoma or Texas as well as Arkansas?
Yes. Cribb Insurance Group is licensed in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas, and our AssuranceAmerica appointment reaches Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. That is genuinely useful for households and small businesses that sit near a state line or that moved recently, because the vehicle has to be insured where it is garaged. If you have vehicles garaged in more than one of those states, tell us up front — it changes how the account is structured.
How do I get an AssuranceAmerica quote in Bentonville or Rogers?
Start at our personal lines quote form or call (479) 286-1066 for auto and renters, or use our commercial quote form for business vehicles. AssuranceAmerica is built for a fast quote and can start coverage the same day, which matters when you need to be legal today rather than next week. If you have a current declarations page, send it — reading what you already carry is faster than answering questions about it, and it is how we tell you whether AssuranceAmerica is genuinely your best option or whether one of our other 40-plus carriers prices you better.
