Cribby: Free AI Insurance Assistant | Cribb Insurance
AI Assistant · Personal & Business

It's an AI, and we'd rather you knew.

Cribby answers insurance questions in plain English — home, auto, or business — free, with no signup and no form first. It's software, not a person, and it explains coverage rather than deciding anything about yours. Answers that need licensed judgment get flagged for a producer, and someone follows up. Most chat assistants in this industry belong to one insurance company and aren't especially forthcoming about either fact. We're appointed with 40+ carriers.

The short answer

Cribby is Cribb Insurance Group's free AI insurance assistant. It answers questions about coverage, about Arkansas rules, and about what a policy actually says — in plain English, for personal and business insurance alike. It is software rather than a person, and we say so on purpose. It explains coverage; it does not determine it, underwrite it, adjust it, or price it. Answers that need licensed judgment are flagged for review by a licensed producer, and someone follows up.

Starting with the part nobody else says

Cribby is software. That's the differentiator, not the disclaimer.

Cribby is an artificial intelligence system — a chat assistant built on a large language model, connected to insurance product information and to what this agency has learned placing business in Northwest Arkansas for more than twenty-five years.

We lead with that because you should know who you're talking to, and because it is genuinely unusual to say it. Cribby has a chameleon for a face and a friendly way of explaining things, but it is software. It doesn't get tired, it doesn't work on commission, and it doesn't have a quota. It also doesn't have judgment — which is why the next section matters at least as much as this one does.

Product knowledge How coverage actually works Coverages, endorsements and policy forms, and how they differ from one market to the next. The mechanics of a product, not the appetite of a carrier.
Arkansas The rules that apply here State minimums, filing requirements, and the department bulletins that change how policies get written in this state rather than in general.
Agency experience What people here actually ask The questions that come in from Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville, and the answers that turned out to matter once somebody had a claim.
Where the line is drawn

An assistant that explains is useful. One that decides is something else.

The limits below aren't reluctant concessions. They're the design.

What Cribby does

Explains

  • Tells you how a coverage works and what a term on your policy means.
  • Describes Arkansas rules in general terms, and says when a question belongs with a regulator.
  • Helps you work out what question you should be asking in the first place.
  • Covers personal and business insurance both.
What Cribby will not do

Decide

  • ×Coverage determinations. Whether a loss is covered depends on the policy issued to you and the facts of the claim.
  • ×Underwriting decisions. Whether a carrier will write you is the carrier's call, never an assistant's.
  • ×Claims decisions. Claims are adjusted by the carrier. Cribby can explain the process and nothing more.
  • ×Premiums. It won't give you a number. Real numbers come from real quotes.

There's a regulatory backdrop, and it's worth stating accurately rather than dramatically.

In July of 2024 the Arkansas Insurance Department issued Bulletin 13-2024, adopting the national model guidance on the use of artificial intelligence systems in insurance. Oklahoma issued its own bulletin that November.

Those bulletins are written for insurance companies rather than for agencies like ours. They don't govern this agency and we're not going to claim they do — that would be an easy thing to imply and it wouldn't be true.

What we will say is that the principle behind them is the right one to build to: decisions affecting a consumer's coverage shouldn't be made by an algorithm. Cribby is built to stay on the explaining side of that line, and the list above is what that looks like in practice rather than in a policy document.

The part that gets overstated everywhere else

Where the humans actually come in.

Cribby answers on its own. That's what makes it useful at nine o'clock on a Sunday night when you're staring at a renewal notice and the office is closed.

Not every conversation is read by a person, and we're not going to tell you otherwise. Plenty of sites imply a level of human oversight that doesn't exist. Here is what actually happens:

You askCribby answers immediately, on its own, any hour of the day.
Something needs judgmentA coverage question with real money behind it, an eligibility question, or anything heading toward a claim.
It gets flaggedThat answer routes to a licensed producer at our office for review.
Someone follows upA person picks it up from there — because some questions shouldn't end with a chatbot.

You can also skip Cribby entirely whenever you like. The phone number on this page reaches an actual person during business hours, and there is no penalty for preferring one.

Two tools, two jobs

Cribby answers questions. Coverage Compare reads documents.

That's the whole distinction, and it's worth keeping straight — reaching for the wrong one wastes your time.

Why the answers come out different

A captive assistant can't tell you its own product is wrong for you.

Most insurance chat assistants belong to a single insurance company. That shapes every answer they give, whether or not anyone intended it to. A captive assistant can describe its own products well. What it structurally cannot do is tell you that its own product is the wrong fit — because it has nothing else to point at.

Cribb Insurance Group is appointed with more than forty carriers across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. So Cribby can explain how a coverage works generally, how different markets handle the same thing differently, and when the honest answer is that a particular market isn't the right one for your situation. "This isn't your carrier" is an answer we're able to give.

That's also why Cribby doesn't name a carrier as the recommendation. Which market fits depends on facts about you that a chat window doesn't have, and pretending otherwise would be the captive problem wearing a different face.

    Questions about Cribby.

    What is Cribby?

Cribby is the free artificial intelligence insurance assistant from Cribb Insurance Group. It answers questions about coverage, about Arkansas insurance rules, and about what a policy actually says, in plain English, for personal and business insurance alike. There is no signup and no form to fill out before you can ask something, and you do not need to be a client of the agency to use it.

Cribby is software rather than a person, and we would rather say so plainly than let anyone wonder about it. It is a chat assistant built on a large language model and connected to insurance product information and to what this agency has learned placing business in Northwest Arkansas for more than twenty-five years. What it does not have is judgment, which is why the limits set out on this page matter at least as much as the capabilities do.

Does Cribby make coverage or claims decisions?

No, and the line is drawn deliberately rather than accidentally. Cribby explains how coverage works. It does not determine whether a loss is covered, it does not decide or adjust a claim, it does not make an underwriting decision about whether a carrier will write you, and it does not quote a premium. Those are decisions for a carrier or for a licensed producer, and the policy actually issued to you controls what is covered in every case.

There is a reason to be precise about this rather than vague. An assistant that explains is useful. An assistant that decides is something else entirely, and a consumer should never be in a position where an algorithm has quietly determined something about their coverage. If you ask Cribby whether your specific claim will be paid, the honest answer is that it cannot tell you, and it should tell you that rather than guess.

Does a real person ever see what Cribby tells me?

Cribby answers on its own, which is what makes it useful at nine o'clock on a Sunday night when you are staring at a renewal notice and the office is closed. Not every conversation is read by a person, and we are not going to claim otherwise.

What happens instead is that answers touching something which needs licensed judgment are flagged for review by a licensed producer at our office, and someone follows up with you. A coverage question with real money behind it, an eligibility question, or anything that looks like it is heading toward a claim are the sorts of things that get flagged. You can also skip Cribby entirely whenever you want to. The phone number on this page reaches an actual person during business hours and there is no penalty at all for preferring one.

Can Cribby answer business insurance questions?

Yes, and this is the main thing that separates the two tools on this site. Cribby covers both books. General liability, workers compensation, commercial auto, certificates of insurance, additional insured requirements, contractor questions and the rest of it are all inside what Cribby handles, alongside home, auto, renters, umbrella and the personal side.

Coverage Compare is narrower on purpose, because it reads documents rather than answering questions, and it reads personal auto and home policies only. So for anything commercial, Cribby is the tool that applies. If you want a person to look at a commercial policy directly rather than asking about it, start a commercial quote and we will read the form itself.

What is the difference between Cribby and Coverage Compare?

Cribby answers questions and Coverage Compare reads documents. That is the whole distinction and it is worth keeping straight, because reaching for the wrong one wastes your time. Ask Cribby when you want to understand how something works, when a term on your policy makes no sense, or when you are trying to work out what question you should even be asking. Use Coverage Compare when you already have a declarations page in your hand and you want to see how your auto or home coverage actually stacks up against the alternatives.

The other difference is scope. Cribby covers personal and business insurance. Coverage Compare covers personal auto and home only. If your question is about a business policy, Cribby is the one, and a person here can look at the form directly if you would rather.

Why does an insurance agency say plainly that its assistant is an AI?

Because you should know who is answering, and because most chat assistants in this industry belong to a single insurance company and are not especially forthcoming about either fact. We would rather be the ones who say it first.

There is a regulatory backdrop worth mentioning without overstating it. In July of 2024 the Arkansas Insurance Department issued Bulletin 13-2024, adopting the national model guidance on the use of artificial intelligence systems in insurance, and Oklahoma issued its own bulletin that November. Those bulletins are written for insurance companies rather than for agencies like ours, so they do not govern us and we are not claiming that they do. The principle behind them is still the right one to build to, which is that decisions affecting a consumer's coverage should not be made by an algorithm. Cribby is built to stay on the explaining side of that line.

Cribb Insurance Group Inc. is an independent insurance agency licensed in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. This page describes a general-information tool offered by the agency. It is not a policy, not an offer of insurance, and not a guarantee of coverage, availability, eligibility or price. It is not legal advice, contract advice, licensing advice, claims advice or a legal opinion. Agency licensure is not the same as carrier appointment; product and market availability differ by class of business, by state and over time.

About Cribby. Cribby is an artificial intelligence system. Responses generated by Cribby are general guidance produced by software and are not a coverage determination, an underwriting decision, a claims decision, a rate or premium quotation, or an offer of insurance. Coverage, exclusions, conditions and policy provisions vary by carrier, by policy form and by state and are subject to change; the policy actually issued to you controls what is covered in every case. Cribby answers automatically and not every conversation is reviewed by a person. Responses identified as requiring licensed judgment are flagged for review by a licensed producer, and that process is described here in general terms rather than as a guarantee applicable to any particular question, message or user. Automated systems can be unavailable, incomplete or mistaken; do not rely on Cribby for a time-sensitive decision, and report any incident or potential claim to your carrier promptly in accordance with your policy's notice conditions rather than to an assistant. Nothing said to Cribby constitutes notice to any carrier or to this agency for any purpose under any policy.

About the regulatory references on this page. References to Arkansas Insurance Department Bulletin 13-2024, issued July 31, 2024, adopting the National Association of Insurance Commissioners model bulletin on the use of artificial intelligence systems, and to the corresponding Oklahoma bulletin issued November 14, 2024, are general summaries provided for information only. Those bulletins are directed at insurers holding certificates of authority and not at insurance agencies or producers; nothing on this page states or implies that either bulletin applies to, governs or has been complied with by Cribb Insurance Group Inc., or that any artificial intelligence systems program is maintained or required. No bulletin provision, section or requirement is reproduced or characterized here. Bulletins and regulations are amended; confirm current requirements with the relevant department of insurance.

The interactive starting-place tool is an educational illustration only. It does not evaluate your policies, operations, contracts or insurance needs, does not determine eligibility, coverage or carrier appetite, does not determine what any statute or regulation requires, and does not calculate, recommend or suggest a limit of insurance or any coverage amount. No premium figures, rate ranges, cost estimates, eligibility thresholds or carrier underwriting criteria are published on this page, and no carrier is named or recommended. Market availability referenced as "40+ carriers" reflects the agency's overall market access across personal and commercial lines and is not a representation that any particular market is available for any particular risk. Statements comparing independent and captive distribution describe general industry structure and are not a statement about any named company. Coverage Compare is a separate tool that reviews personal auto and home policies only and is not available for commercial coverage.
