It's a vehicle and a house. Insure it like both.
A motorhome is two things at once — a vehicle you drive and a home you live in on the road — and a Liberty Mutual RV policy is built to cover both. The vehicle side brings auto-style liability, collision, and comprehensive. The home side adds coverage for your belongings, campsite liability when you're parked, lodging if the RV is disabled, and up to $5,000 in customized equipment. Pick from four coverage levels, Essential to Premier. Here's what each side covers, how the levels stack, and how Arkansas treats an RV. From an independent agency that places Liberty Mutual every day.
The short answer
A Liberty Mutual motorhome policy covers an RV as what it is: part vehicle, part home. The vehicle side provides auto-style liability (up to $1M), collision, and comprehensive. The home side adds Personal Effects replacement, Vacation Liability at the campsite, Loss of Use if the RV is disabled, and up to $5,000 in customized equipment. You choose from four coverage levels — Essential, Enhanced, Superior, Premier — each adding richer benefits, right up to dog and cat coverage. In Arkansas, a motorized RV is insured like a vehicle (25/50/25 minimum). Backed by an A (Excellent) carrier, quoted against 40+.
On the road, it's a vehicle.
While you're driving it, an RV needs the same protection as any vehicle — the difference is the size, value, and everyone else on the road when a motorhome is involved.
Liability
Covers the injuries and property damage you're responsible for in an at-fault crash, with limits from the state minimum up to $1 million. On a vehicle this large, thin limits are a real exposure.
Collision
Helps repair or replace the RV after a collision with another vehicle or an object, regardless of fault — with deductible options to match how you want to balance premium and risk.
Comprehensive
Covers theft, fire, storm, falling limbs, and animal strikes — the losses a parked or stored RV is most exposed to. Full safety glass coverage is available for that big, expensive windshield.
Uninsured / underinsured motorist
Protects you when the driver at fault has no coverage or too little — bodily injury and property damage options, and a combined single limit where you'd rather carry one number.
Medical & PIP
Personal injury protection and medical expense coverage help with bills after an accident, alongside work-loss and accidental-death benefit options — the injury side, sized to your household.
Total-loss settlement
Physical-damage settlement options are available, and the higher coverage levels add new-vehicle replacement — so a newer RV totaled early isn't settled at a steep depreciation. Terms confirmed at quote.
Parked, it's a home.
This is the coverage a car policy simply doesn't have — the part that treats the RV as the place you're living while you're on the trip.
Personal effects
Personal Effects Replacement Cost coverage helps replace the belongings you travel with — clothing, gear, and the things that make the RV livable — the contents a tow-vehicle policy was never meant to cover.
Vacation liability
Vacation Liability covers you for liability while the RV is parked and being used as a campsite or temporary residence — the exposure that exists once you've stopped driving and started living in it.
Loss of use
If a covered loss leaves the RV unusable while you're on a trip, Loss of Use helps with lodging and related costs — so a breakdown far from home doesn't strand you at your own expense.
Customized equipment
Audio, visual, and customized equipment coverage of up to $5,000 per vehicle protects the awnings, electronics, satellite gear, and upgrades that a stock policy wouldn't fully account for.
Four levels, from Essential to Premier.
Rather than a one-size policy, the RV product is built in tiers — so you can carry a solid base or step up to a package that keeps you whole after a bad loss. We help you pick the level that fits how you travel.
What climbing the ladder adds.
Essential is the solid foundation. Enhanced adds accident forgiveness. Superior layers on waived deductibles for not-at-fault and comprehensive total losses, a diminishing deductible that shrinks as you stay claims-free, new-vehicle replacement, worldwide rental, electronic key replacement, and claims-free cash back.
Premier tops it off: new-business accident forgiveness, no depreciation or betterment adjustment on a covered repair, personal property coverage, roadside assistance with up to 100 miles of towing, loss of use and key-lockout help, loan/lease coverage, two-year new-vehicle replacement, an extra death benefit, and even dog and cat coverage. Picking the right rung is a judgment call about your RV's age and value and how you use it — exactly the call an independent agent should make with you, not for you.
Motorized and towable aren't the same.
A motorized RV — a Class A, B, or C motorhome — is a motor vehicle in Arkansas, so it must carry auto liability at the 25/50/25 state minimum, like any car. That minimum is a floor, not a target, for something this size.
Which kind of RV you have changes the answer.
If you drive a motorhome, it's registered and insured like a vehicle, and Arkansas requires liability on it. If you tow a travel trailer or fifth wheel, the trailer isn't separately required to carry its own liability — that generally rides on the vehicle towing it — but it still holds real value and real contents, and your tow-vehicle auto policy typically won't cover the trailer's physical damage or the belongings inside. That's the gap a dedicated RV policy fills.
How you use it matters just as much as what it is. A few weekends a year, long seasonal trips, and full-time living on the road each call for a different balance of liability and home-side coverage — and the vacation-liability and personal-property pieces are where that shows up. We set it to how you actually travel, and this isn't legal advice — just how the coverage lines up.
The savings ride on your account.
Because this RV coverage is built on the personal-auto contract, the credits that lower a car premium commonly apply here too. Amounts vary and depend on your situation, so we confirm them at quote rather than post figures — then apply every one you qualify for.
Bundle & Homeowner
For carrying your home or auto with the same carrier, and for owning your home — usually the largest saver on an RV.
Multiple Vehicles
For insuring more than one vehicle with us — the RV joining the rest of what you drive on one account.
Paid in Full & Advance Quote
For paying the term up front, and for quoting ahead of your start date rather than at the last minute.
What fits your situation
The full list depends on your profile and history. We run your specifics and apply every credit you're eligible for — confirmed at quote.
The RV belongs on the same account.
An RV touches your home and auto at once.
Because the coverage is part vehicle and part home, an RV is easiest to set up right when one agency already holds your home and auto — that's where the bundle and multi-vehicle credits come from, and where we make sure the home-side coverages don't overlap or contradict your homeowners policy. It's also where we confirm the RV's liability limits are high enough to sit under a personal umbrella, so a serious crash in a 30-foot motorhome doesn't reach past them.
Two things to get right on an RV.
First, match the coverage to how you use it — a weekend camper and a full-timer need different liability and home-side coverage, and guessing leaves you either overpaying or exposed. Second, pick the level on purpose; the jump from Essential to a richer tier is where new-vehicle replacement and waived deductibles live, and those matter most on a newer, higher-value RV. We'll weigh the level, size the liability and personal effects, and stack the credits that fit.
Backed by an A (Excellent) carrier.
On September 10, 2025, AM Best affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent) for the members of Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc., stable outlook — the group behind the companies that write this coverage in Arkansas. A financial strength rating is an opinion about an insurer's ability to pay claims; it doesn't grade how a specific claim is handled and isn't a recommendation. The current rating is at ambest.com.
Where we earn it on an RV.
The quiet RV mistakes are the wrong coverage level for the RV's value, home-side coverages left off (personal effects, vacation liability, loss of use), and customized equipment under-valued. We match the level to your RV and your travel, make sure the home side is actually on the policy, and confirm the account credits. We don't adjust your claim and can't overrule an adjuster — but we'll make sure the policy was built right for both sides of what an RV is, and we'll move you to another of our 40-plus markets if Liberty Mutual stops being the best fit.
Driven by the RV and the level.
RV premiums turn on the type and value of the rig, how and where you travel, the coverage level you pick, and the deductibles and limits you set — so a posted figure would mislead. What's consistent is that bundling it with your home and auto usually moves the price, and choosing the level on purpose keeps you from paying for more or less than you need. This isn't a quote or a guarantee. Tell us about the RV and we'll build the real number with you, LM against 40-plus carriers.

Liberty Mutual motorhome & RV questions.
Does a motorhome need auto insurance in Arkansas?
A motorized RV — a Class A, B, or C motorhome — is a motor vehicle in Arkansas, so it must carry auto liability insurance at the state minimum of 25/50/25, just like a car. A towable RV, such as a travel trailer or fifth wheel, isn't separately required to carry its own liability — that generally rides on the liability of whatever vehicle is towing it — but it still needs its own physical-damage and contents coverage, which a tow-vehicle auto policy usually won't fully provide.
Either way, the state minimum is a floor, not a target, especially for something as large and valuable as an RV. This is general information, not legal advice.
How is RV insurance different from car insurance?
An RV is two things at once — a vehicle you drive and a home you live in on the road — and the coverage reflects both. The vehicle side looks like auto insurance: liability, collision, and comprehensive.
The home side is what car insurance doesn't have: Personal Effects Replacement Cost for the belongings you travel with, Vacation Liability for when you're parked and camping, Loss of Use to help with lodging if the RV is disabled on a trip, and coverage of up to $5,000 for audio, visual, and customized equipment. It's the home-side coverage that a standard auto policy simply isn't built to provide.
What are the RV coverage levels?
There are four: Essential, Enhanced, Superior, and Premier, and each one builds on the last. Essential is the solid base. Enhanced adds accident forgiveness. Superior layers on waived deductibles for not-at-fault and comprehensive total losses, a diminishing deductible, new-vehicle replacement, worldwide rental, electronic key replacement, and claims-free cash back.
Premier tops it off with new-business accident forgiveness, no depreciation or betterment adjustment, personal property coverage, roadside assistance with up to 100 miles of towing, loss of use and key lockout, loan/lease coverage, two-year new-vehicle replacement, an extra death benefit, and even dog and cat coverage. We help you pick the level that fits how you travel.
Does it cover my belongings and my campsite?
Yes — that's the home side of the policy. Personal Effects Replacement Cost coverage helps replace the belongings you keep in the RV, Vacation Liability covers you for liability while you're parked and using the RV as a campsite or residence, and Loss of Use helps with lodging and related costs if a covered loss leaves the RV unusable on a trip.
The exact limits and how they apply are set by the policy and by the coverage level you choose, and are confirmed at quote.
Am I covered traveling to Mexico or living in the RV full time?
A Mexico coverage extension is available for RV trips across the border, so that's a straightforward add. Full-time RV living is different from weekend recreation, and the coverage should be built for it — the Premier level, for example, removes the business-use exclusion (except for liability) and adds personal property coverage, which matters more the more the RV is your actual home.
Tell us how you use it — a few weekends a year, long seasonal trips, or full-time on the road — and we'll set the liability and home-side coverages to match.
What discounts can lower my RV premium?
Because this RV coverage is built on the same personal-auto contract, the credits that apply to auto insurance commonly apply here too — bundling it with your home or auto, owning your home, insuring more than one vehicle, paying the term in full, and quoting ahead of your start date, among others.
Amounts vary and the exact list depends on your situation, so rather than publish figures we'll run your specifics and apply every credit you qualify for. If you already have policies with us, bundling the RV in is usually where the savings show up.
How do I get an RV or motorhome quote?
Start at our personal lines quote form or call (479) 286-1066. Tell us the RV — whether it's a motorhome or a towable, the class, the year and value, and how you use it — and we'll quote Liberty Mutual against 40-plus other carriers, help you choose the right coverage level, and check the bundle and account credits at the same time.
If it's a motorhome, we'll make sure the required liability is set; if it's a towable, we'll make sure its physical damage and contents aren't left to your tow-vehicle policy to cover.

Tell us the rig and how you travel, and we'll pick the coverage level with you, set the liability where it belongs, make sure the home-side coverage is actually on there, and stack every credit you qualify for. This page describes motorhome and RV coverage in general, industry-standard terms for informational purposes only. It is not a policy, not an offer of insurance, and not a guarantee of coverage, availability, eligibility, or price. Coverage levels (Essential, Enhanced, Superior, and Premier) and the benefits each adds — including accident forgiveness, waived and diminishing deductibles, new-vehicle replacement, personal property, roadside assistance and towing, loss of use, dog and cat coverage, and the removal of certain exclusions — along with liability and other limits, deductibles, physical-damage settlement options, vacation liability, the Mexico coverage extension, customized equipment coverage, roadside and emergency assistance, and personal effects coverage, are set by the carrier, vary by coverage level, by underwriting eligibility, by state, and over time, and are confirmed at quote and subject to underwriting approval and to the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions of the policy actually issued. If anything on this page conflicts with the issued policy, the policy controls.
Discounts are described in general categories only; no percentages or specific figures are represented. Their availability, eligibility, and amounts vary, not all discounts can be combined, and all are confirmed at quote. Statements about Arkansas law — including that a motorized RV must carry auto liability at the 25/50/25 minimum and that a towable RV's liability is generally provided by the towing vehicle — are general information, not legal advice, and are subject to change. How any law applies to a specific vehicle or situation is a question for a qualified attorney or the appropriate state agency.
Financial strength ratings are opinions of an insurer's ability to meet its ongoing insurance obligations, are subject to change, are not recommendations to purchase, hold or terminate any policy, and do not address an insurer's claims-handling practices; current ratings are at ambest.com. The A (Excellent) rating referenced applies to the members of Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc. Cost is determined by the carrier at quote and is not a figure this page represents or guarantees.
